This is for Jay...Hey Jay, this is Richard...Holly Smith's Brother...I stayed with you and Robby durring your days in Texas...my old Gibson helped you get started on the steel guitar...playing ole Neil Young and john Prine songs! I live now in Maryland and run a medical device company based out of New Zealand...it would be great to catch up sometime...let me know if we can connect...I need to get back to K-Town over the next few months...Holly may make it with me...it seems like only yesterday you and Robby were playing at the Cat's Meow on Cumberland Ave...I hope you and you are doing well...Cheers!

When I finally got around to loading Just Like New onto my ipod it became apparent just how good this stuff is. Even us Yankees can appreciate something great when we hear it. It's never too late to hit it big. Wish you were headed this way....Ellen

Steve,my wife and I really enjoyed the coyotes Friday night. We also have been listening to the cd. I have been having a ball playing along with coyotes,I get chills playing L&N Lullabye. I would like to turn our Thursday Nite Pickers on to some Coyoyes music. Is there anyway/anyhow I could the words to L&N Lullabye or any Coyotes songs. I will continue to play with this great CD{Just like new}in the basement trying to get down the smooth steel sounds of Jay.Thanks for your time, hope you can help me out.Keep howling,Pete.

Well, some things just get even better with time. After 20-how many? years later, the sound of Steve's & Maggie's vocals still run cold chills down my spine (and Hector's, too!). "Pitsy" is better than ever, and Stan's just plain solid (as always).

It was great to see all you guys again in Jonesborough Friday night. Wish I could have stayed for the whole show. Hope it isn't the last time I get to see you. You will always have a special place in my heart and memories. Keep diggin!

God Bless.

Thank you all so much for sending my Mom your wonderful autographed picture. She called me yesterday all excited to say she was going to frame it. She was very flattered also that you said she was your "Number 1 fan in California". Your music has really enriched her life. She remains devoted and dancing.

I still remember hearing the coyotes in the Long Branch, or that other place a few doors down, and thinking thru the beery fog, "damn, that chick can really sing".. One of these days, I'll have to come down, get myself into another beery fog, and experience that again, ahhaaaa...

hey amy roop, sorry I wasnt there when you dropped off the typewriter (back in 1982, I think)... I just spaced out and forgot. Would have liked to have said goodbye!

Hey Steve,

My mom wants your address so she can send you the fan letter she's been working on for the last couple of months. She's almost totally blind now, so it takes her a while to get the words down, but there's nothing wrong with her ears. She LOVES you guys!

I really enjoyed the webcast of your music on www.WDVX.com. As a Californian with roots in Tennessee, it was great to hear good old music from my youth. Also, Thank you for the nice tribute to my cousin, John Manning, who wrote Greyhound Ride, a wonderful song that I hope gets more play. Good luck to your group.

Howdy, Coyotes! Hadn't been fer that ole howler, Steve Horten, emailin' me about this site with its highway-thru-the-desert miragescape, i wouldn't be sittin' here on my wheels, grinnin' at that armadillo-green background, tryin' to figger out what those smudges are all over it. Finally, it came to me! That's where coyotes leave their marks, right? Well, Steve mostly wanted to notify me about the live broadcast from www.wdvx.com at noon in a few days hence. Thanks, Steve. i'll turn on and tune in fer sure. And I got to have those 2 CDs of viewers from CD Baby. (I have my album there as well.) Maybe next summer I will be back in K-Town and I will look you up and I will come to listen and enjoy some of the coolest music ever made -- The Lonesome Coyotes. Keep on howlin', young'ns cause y'all do it with cool style and smooth mood like NOBODY ELSE! i love y'all.
John Two
PS. There is also something odd about that small picture on your website. It is a picture of the sunset in the desert -- but the sun is green! But I figured that one out too. It's in a Lonesome Coyotes dimension! So I just stared at the sun for one full minute -- right in the middle, right above where that double horny skull is. Then i looked at a white sheet of paper. And sure 'nuff, you can see the picture again, only THIS TIME the colors have changed--the sun is an eerie red or pink! It's a Lonesome Coyote mirage…oooOOOOwww!!

I got "Just Like New" from Hector on his recent tour of Britain with RB Morris. Great singing and playing reminiscent of Bob Wills and Commander Cody with a bluesier thread underlying it all. Keep up the good work!

I just heard from a friend that you guys were back playing again. I first saw you back in 1981 in the Buddy's Bar-B-Cue days. You introduced me to Texas swing and I've loved it ever since. A friend in Knoxville (I'm now in Bowling Green, KY) told me you were going to be at the Laurel Theater on Thanksgiving weekend. I don't know if I can make that or not as I'd have to come from Western KY. If you don't I hope to be able to hear you somewhere else soon. I have some great memories of hearing you guys. I even have your LP (remember those) that you all signed for me.
